How MissionSafe, AIM, and World Race Are Advancing Risk Management Through Expert-Led Training

Sending teams into the world for missions and service is both a privilege and a responsibility. Leaders carry the trust of participants, families, and sending organizations. At MissionSafe, we believe that trust is protected through preparation, strong systems, and expert support.

Last November, the MissionSafe team was honored to host Adventures in Missions (AIM) and World Race leaders for advanced Duty of Care and Risk Management training. The program was led by MissionSafe President Bill Pope and Chief Legal Counsel John M. Drye, combining operational leadership with legal expertise.

AIM recently shared their perspective in Training for the Moments That Matter Most.” This article offers MissionSafe’s complementary view of that partnership.

Why Duty of Care Training Matters

Global ministry environments involve dynamic risks—medical emergencies, security concerns, travel disruptions, and communication challenges.

Effective Duty of Care training helps leaders:

  • Anticipate and mitigate risk

  • Understand legal responsibilities

  • Coordinate crisis response

  • Communicate clearly with families

  • Make sound decisions under pressure

Through scenario-based exercises, participants practiced real-world response protocols, documentation standards, and escalation procedures.

MissionSafe’s Integrated Support Model

MissionSafe’s approach integrates risk management, insurance advocacy, and hands-on support to help organizations care well for their people.

Our model emphasizes:

  • Proactive planning and preparation

  • Clear response protocols

  • Human-centered advocacy during emergencies

  • Transparent communication with families and partners

  • Strong compliance awareness

MissionSafe strives to help organizations understand regulatory and governance considerations while remaining focused on practical, people-first care.  Our role is to ensure organizations are well-supported, well-informed, and well-advocated for when challenges arise.

Introducing SafePassage: Lessons in Global Care

At their November training, AIM also previewed MissionSafe's newest educational resource: Safe Passage:  Lessons in Global Care, which launches in February.

Safe Passage is a curated series of real-world case studies exploring how organizations navigate complex moments in global service. These stories highlight preparation, leadership, advocacy, and compassionate response.

Each case study helps travel leaders:

       1. Learn from real incidents

       2. Improve crisis preparedness

       3. Strengthen internal systems

       4. Build organizational resilience

Safe Passage complements MissionSafe’s training and advocacy services              by providing ongoing, scenario-driven learning.  Organizations may preview            select Safe Passage resources here.

Impact on Leaders and Families

Participants in the AIM training gained unified response frameworks, improved coordination systems, and greater confidence in managing emergencies.

For families and sending partners, this preparation provides reassurance that leaders are supported by experienced advocates who help navigate medical, travel, and insurance-related challenges.

Duty of Care is not just a policy—it is a commitment to preparedness, responsiveness, and care.

Conclusion

Training for the moments that matter most requires preparation, collaboration, and trusted support.

Through leadership development, insurance advocacy, hands-on training, and new resources like Safe Passage: Lessons in Global Care, MissionSafe equips organizations to respond effectively when unexpected situations arise.

We are proud to partner with AIM and World Race in strengthening mission travel safety and leader preparedness.
